Andrea Gerola
Classes
Andrea Gerola is a Bay Area native who has had a love of art and teaching children since she was a very young child herself. As a Visual Artist, she is thrilled to be able to share her passion with her students. She hopes to instill a creative spirit in her students that will enable them to embrace their inner imagination and uniqueness and learn to share it with the world. Art is the one area in school where there are no wrong answers, only creative opportunities. Watching students learn this life lesson and feel confident as artistic creators brings Andrea’s passion alive. She loves to see the joy and excitement on her students’ faces, and experience their sense of accomplishment when they finish projects that they have worked hard on and are proud of. She teaches art through different mediums including paints, oil and chalk pastels, and even printmaking and clay.
Andrea began her career as a kindergarten teacher, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Sonoma State University. She taught kindergarten in South Lake Tahoe and Mountain View, bringing visual arts alive for her students, for 15 years. During the past 8 years, she has had the pleasure of teaching art to her sons’ elementary school classrooms with the Arts in Action program. What a perfect way to encompass many of her passions – teaching art and volunteering in her own children’s classrooms!
In her spare time, you can find Andrea sewing and quilting, reading, camping, spending time outdoors, and playing baseball with her husband and 2 boys.
