Matthew Y. Morishige is an actor, songwriter, and playwright based in Berkeley, CA. He is committed to amplifying diverse perspectives and is energized by collaboration across different disciplines and backgrounds.

Matthew is honored to have performed for theatre companies such as American Conservatory Theater (Co-Founders: Workshop), Aurora Theater (Tell Tale Hearts: Digital), Cornerstone Theater (California: The Tempest), and Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre (Ghosted) As a playwright, he has had multiple short plays staged, including Work/Shoot (Best of Playground ’23 semi-finalist). As a musical performer and improviser, he has worked with groups such as the Bay Area Theater Cypher, Rhyme Combinator, Pan Theater, and the Freestyle Love Supreme Academy (NY).

As a new member of the Leap Team, Matthew aims to collaborate with students to imagine new possibilities within the arts and beyond.
